Paint Correction
What is Paint Correction?
This is the process of removing contamination and defects from the suface of the Clear Coat. Correction will bring back the deep shine and color of your vehicles paint.
To achieve this we must first follow a few steps
First we start with a heavy foam wash to remove road grime and regular contaminents built up from daily use.
Next, we clay bar. This step is a deeper level of de-contaminating the paint. Doing so will remove things the eye cannot see, however if you run the back of your hand over your paint you can feel the “grit” that you can’t see.
Once these steps have been completed and the paint feels smooth to the touch we can begin Paint Correction
What Can Paint Correction Do/Not Do?
Can Do
- Remove Hazing/Most Defects
- Bring back deep gloss and showroom quality shine
- Minimize the visibility of deep scratches and imperfections
Can Not Do
- Remove defects beyond the clear coat
- Fix peeling clear coat/chipped paint
Steps Of Correction
One Step Correction
This is the basic correction. One pass over the whole vehicle with a compound designed to remove minor defects and add gloss.
A great option for someone who has already maintained their vehicles paint and just wants to rejuvenate the shine and clarity.
Two Step Correction
This is a step up from the previous stage involving one full pass of correcting followed by a pass of polishing
This option works well for the daily driver that goes through an automatic car wash. Much more work is needed to remove the damage done by automatic car washes. This means an extra step solely for removing defects or scratches is needed. Followed by a step solely for bringing the depth and gloss back.
Three Step Correction
This step is relatively the same as before but we add in a stage of heavy correction. This can be done by wet sanding and using a heavier compound and more aggressive pad combination.
This option works the best for people who have a vehicle that needs a lot of work to restore the paint to its original condition. Abandoned cars, daily drivers, many types of vehicles could use this level of correction if you’re looking for a near perfect result. After completing that heavy correction we would then follow up with the previous steps.
